Main responsibilities:
- Leading/mentoring a team of 4 direct reports to manage the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the procurement process for frozen food products across seafood & meat categories, with emphasis on the seafood category.
- Sourcing and bench-marking suppliers, products, and pricing.
- Negotiating costs, payment methods, delivery methods and other factors with suppliers to obtain best price and service to reduce cost and maximise business profits.
- Monitoring and managing supply-chain risk, price volatility and suppliers’ performance, in accordance with agreed contracts, service-level agreements and KPIs
- Nurturing relationships with suppliers to ensure best prices are negotiated on all products.
- Conducting review meetings with key stakeholders to assess risk, review future procurement strategies, and identify potential cost reduction and improvement opportunities.
- Liaising with 3PL providers and other logistics partners where necessary, to oversee the import, transfer, and storage of products across multiple warehouse sites.
- Liaising with warehouse teams to manage stock control and annual stock taking process.
- Periodically attending trade shows both nationally and internationally to represent company’s brand.
- Reviewing and challenging current processes, looking for business improvements
- Deputising in the absence of the Head of Procurement.
Skills and experience:
- Previous purchasing experience at a managerial level within the Food sector (seafood category an added advantage)
- A keen interest and enthusiasm for the Food industry
- Experience of managing complicated multifaceted negotiations within a high transaction volume environment to a successful conclusion
- Strong commercial skills and financial awareness, with the ability to build persuasive business cases.
- Ideally a purchasing or other business-based degree (CIPS qualification an added advantage)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (strong Ms. Excel proficiency desired)
- Flexible, with the ability to perform in a fast-moving, constantly changing environment.
