Exciting opportunity for someone with a seafood background who's looking to grow and settle within a company that prioratises taking care of their employees and offers great benefits.
Main responsibilities:
  • Leading/mentoring a team of 4 direct reports to manage the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the procurement process for frozen food products across seafood & meat categories, with emphasis on the seafood category.
  • Sourcing and bench-marking suppliers, products, and pricing.
  • Negotiating costs, payment methods, delivery methods and other factors with suppliers to obtain best price and service to reduce cost and maximise business profits.
  • Monitoring and managing supply-chain risk, price volatility and suppliers’ performance, in accordance with agreed contracts, service-level agreements and KPIs
  • Nurturing relationships with suppliers to ensure best prices are negotiated on all products.
  • Conducting review meetings with key stakeholders to assess risk, review future procurement strategies, and identify potential cost reduction and improvement opportunities.
  • Liaising with 3PL providers and other logistics partners where necessary, to oversee the import, transfer, and storage of products across multiple warehouse sites.
  • Liaising with warehouse teams to manage stock control and annual stock taking process.
  • Periodically attending trade shows both nationally and internationally to represent company’s brand.
  • Reviewing and challenging current processes, looking for business improvements
  • Deputising in the absence of the Head of Procurement.

Skills and experience:
  • Previous purchasing experience at a managerial level within the Food sector (seafood category an added advantage)
  • A keen interest and enthusiasm for the Food industry
  • Experience of managing complicated multifaceted negotiations within a high transaction volume environment to a successful conclusion
  • Strong commercial skills and financial awareness, with the ability to build persuasive business cases.
  • Ideally a purchasing or other business-based degree (CIPS qualification an added advantage)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (strong Ms. Excel proficiency desired)
  • Flexible, with the ability to perform in a fast-moving, constantly changing environment.
