Oh Monday, it feels you've come around again too quickly! The dreaded first day of the week inspires many Google searches, desperately seeking a solution to the well publicised 'Monday Blues', but what can we do to battle it? What if it's not Monday that's the problem? Surely it is merely another day? What if the problem is... US???
The bad news is we can't change Mondays. The good news? We can change ourselves!
1. Eat Breakfast
Note to self: Coffee does not constitute a nutritious breakfast. Neither does leftover pizza.
They don't call it the most important meal of the day for nothing. The simple fact of the matter is that your body needs fuel to get through the day, so if you've left the house without eating something nutritious, you are running on empty, which will directly impact your mood, metabolism and energy levels. I used to spend all my time in the morning making sure I looked presentable, leaving no time for food. Now I make sure that I feel presentable. Look after your body and it will look after you.
2. Make Someone's Day
The best way to lift yourself out of your self-piteous misery? Make someone else smile! Thinking of others can have a miraculous effect on our mood and hey, even if it doesn't change how you feel, at least you're having a positive impact on your environment. 3. Find a Monday Happy Place
We always treat ourselves on a Friday right? What if that special treat for ourselves was on a Monday instead. We put so much pressure on ourselves with various Monday resolutions (diet starts Monday etc.) that it's no wonder we dread it. Be kind to yourself and give yourself a break. Also, why not plan for Monday? It's easy to give ourselves too much of a break on Friday afternoon, instead, we could spend half an hour planning for Monday, then Monday would be so much easier when it actually arrives :)
